WRITING A REPORT
For Writing we have been looking at reports. We decided to write a report on our Australian athletes who will be representing our country in the Rio Olympics. Patrick gave us the link to a website that had information every single of our athletes. We were put into groups so that we could develop our teamwork skills, which is a big focus for our grade.
Before we could start writing the reports we had to do an investigation. We had to look at certain athlete reports and see what sort of information was inside.
After we unpacked a report, it was time to start researching and writing.
The task was so much fun. Our researching skills really developed and we became very quick at finding relevant information.

SPIN THAT SPINNER!
To end our Probability Maths focus we created our very own probability spinners. Using an online spinner create we had to make a spinner that matched the probability statement that Patrick gave us. For example: Blue is likely, green is very unlikely and purple is impossible. The activity was great because it challenged our understanding of probability words and really made us think.
After we finished creating our spinners, we walked around the room and looked at everyone's and gave them some feedback about their spinners.
PROBABILITY POKEMON GO!!!
For Maths we have been investigating probability. We have been working so hard and are almost ready to move to the next Maths focus. But before we could move on Helen and Patrick thought it would be a good idea to let us have a bit of fun. So they created Probability Pokemon Go.
The rules are easy. Some of the class are Pokemon. Some of the class are Pokemon trainers. The trainers have to catch the Pokemon by chasing and tagging them. When the Pokemon is caught, they hand a coloured block to the trainer. When there are no more coloured blocks left the Pokemon is out. See, easy.
Before we played the game Patrick let us watch the Pokemon T.V. opening... to get us in the mood.
After that it was time to transform into our Pokemon and Pokemon trainers.
Once the game was over, Patrick revealed that the red blocks were the rare ones and were worth 10 points. After we counted the points, we discussed the probability of getting a rare red block when compared to the other blocks. We had to come up with a few probability statements from the results of our game.
It was a fun lesson AND we secretly learnt things as well. POKEMON RULE!
